Dog Training: Rally O Fun at the Park



Kaine is trained using positive reinforcement and the clicker. I taught him everything he knows using these amazing methods and Kaine has the time of his life trying to get me to click. Kaine and I started practicing at our local park. Each course we designed on the spot and each time we went thorough a course, it was for the first time. My sister and I decided to add lots of tricks to the mix to make the course challenging and fun. I started practicing sequences with Kaine, where he gets randomly rewarded for so many behaviors. We had a blast and I am so impressed with Kaine. Anytime he made a mistake, I was to blame. After all, I gave him the wrong hand signal for the rollover at first and I forgot which paws where which. The runs were so much fun and Kaine had a perfect performance. If you notice, I gave Kaine an informal cue while we walked which was Lets Go. That cue is different than our formal Close (heel) cue. I dont agree with requiring a dog to solely stare at you on command because if they have any concerns about the environment and they arent allowed to look around, then they never develop any coping skills. Kaine always has the option to look around and he chose to watch me instead. My favorite parts were his rodeo reverse, his beautiful attention while walking, and his super speedy rollover. I chose not to add music to our practice so that people can hear how I speak to Kaine. There is never any angry yelling of any kind, or any verbal reprimands or
