Do your organizational systems support you?

Can you achieve your carreer/business goals if your organizational systems don't support you? How can you hope to excel in a mess? How can you even think that you can move your goals off the page and into your life when your systems are fighting you?

When you don't have the systems, procedures and checklists for success, you will simply trip over yourself one too many times.

Look around. Are you organized to conquer... or has the mess already won? What changes do I need to make?

Solution #1
Make a “to do” list everyday, prioritize it and follow it. One of the biggest efficiency concerns for most people is the ability to manage their time.

Learning to prioritize may be the No. 1 way to handle more in less time. Some people use the excuse that they don't have enough time to prioritize. The reality is they are afraid of how large the list will be. Besides, it is easier to procrastinate about things instead of doing them.

STOP and take two minutes right now to list everything you have to accomplish today. Rank these items in the order of importance using this system: Prioritize your tasks (A-C) A being the most important, B being a little less important and C being the least important. Now number the A's ONLY daily in order of their urgency then move on to the B’s and use the same process. Do the A's (the most important) first, and so on.

Now you have a plan and a goal for accomplishing what you have to do. Anything left at the end of the day; you should place on a new list and reprioritize for the following day.

Take 5-10 minutes at the end of each day to plan for tomorrow (this same time can be taken at the beginning of each day). Identify and prioritize tasks necessary to reach your goals on a daily "to do" list. Be careful not to commit every minute, allow flexibility for unexpected and urgent tasks.

Make or keep a running To Do List, preferably in Microsoft Outlook or similar program. As you set task/values lists, ask yourself whether you can eliminate or delegate any of them.
