Since Carphone Warehouse and O2 announced they would not be restocking iPhones until the 3G version arrives, several sources have confirmed that iPhone stock in UK has been dramatically diminishing.
Trustedviews have reported that the expensive 16GB iPhone priced at £329 is now out of stock online even though there were no discounts applied. For those still want to buy an 8GB (£269) or 16GB (£329) version for the next 30 days, the only place iPhones can be found online is directly at Apple Store.
This
situation also occurred with Microsoft while selling the Windows XP without reducing its price or holding any kind of promotions. However, the great thing about this current iPhone shortage is that it occurred just in time since the new iPhone version with 3G is expected to debut in June at the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference.
Apple is expecting to sell 10 million iPhones by the end of 2008. Until now, UK sales have been excellent compared to other European countries. However, UK still lags well behind U.S. sales.
