Today, let's meet Nadia Bjorlin, an actress originally from Newport, Rhode Island but now living in Los Angeles, California. Though Nadia was born in Rhode Island, she lived her earliest childhood years in Sweden until the age of 7. Her father was the Swedish composer and conductor Ulf Björlin. Nadia was raught by ger father to speak and sing in Swedish, Farsi, and English, and she is renowned for her soprano voice. When her family moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, she attended the Palm Beach County School of the Arts (now Dreyfoos School of the arts) along with her brothers Ulf and Jean Paul, where she excelled in music and theater. All three siblings have found success in show business since graduation.
Nadia got her start in entertainment by competing in beauty pageants. In 1998, she placed third in Miss Florida Teen USA.
However, her big break came when she landed a regular role on the soap opera
Days of Our Lives December 1999, where she first appeared as the character Chloe Lane. At first, Chloe was portrayed as a nerdy and geeky kind of girl with big glasses. Eventually, her character developed into a quiet beauty who could also sing and who fell in love with rich, popular Philip Kiriakis, portrayed by actor Jay Kenneth Johnson. Soon, their romance turned rocky, and she developed a crush on Brady Black, portrayed by actor Kyle Lowder.
Nadia originally left
Days of Our Lives in June 2003 to concentrate on her singing career. The soap accommodated her departure by having her character leaving town to become an opera star. She returned on a recurring basis in November 2004 after her character supposedly had a disfiguring car accident and eventually married Brady Black. In September 2005, Nadia left
Days of Our Lives again and joined the cast of the UPN series
Sex, Love & Secrets. Unfortunately the show was canceled by the network after only two episodes had aired, but she continued to make guest appearances on television series such as
Jake in Progress and
Out of Practice. During the summer of 2005, Nadia made guest appearances on the Fishbowl radio program 'Coming Out with Reichen,' hosted by her good friend Reichen Lehmkuhl. The Fishbowl Radio Network is an Internet radio station for reality television alumni.
In 2006, Nadia appeared in the independent feature film,
If I Had Known I Was a Genius, starring Markus Redmond, Whoopi Goldberg, Sharon Stone, and Tara Reid. The film was screened at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival.
Nadia was also cast as the female lead of the Chicago Pictures' feature film,
Redline. The film starred Eddie Griffin and Nathan Phillips, and was released in theaters on April 13, 2007. Nadia portrays Natasha Martin, a young automobile fanatic and lead singer of a still unsigned West Coast band. The character finds herself caught up in illegal street-racing competitions organized for the pleasure of a bunch of bored multi-millionaires. The movie was released on DVD on August 21, 2007.
Nadia returned to
Days of our Lives as Chloe on November 29, 2007.
