Today, let's meet Lara Bingle, a fashion and glamour model and television personality from Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Lara has only been in the modeling business for a few years, yet she has already become a household name in her native homeland; some of it, however, for the wrong reasons. She began her career in 2004 while still in high school, doing fashion modeling for various regional publications. In 2006, she was featured in a commercial for Australian tourism industry (which you can see below) in which she came swimming out of the ocean and onto the beach and delivered the commercial's tagline "Where the bloody hell are you?" While parts of this phrase are fairly common slang down under, the commercial was banned in Great Britain for using "bloody" as an obscenity. Nevertheless, she was featured in a spinoff/parody of that commercial later that year for a cricket tournament in which she appeared in a bikini. Shortly after her appearance in the Australian tourism ad, photos of her in skimpy bikinis and strategically covered topless photos of her appeared in Zoo Weekly magazine. However, she sued the magazine, claiming that she did not consent to have her photos appear in the magazine. A judge agreed with her and ordered Zoo to remove most of the photos. In March, 2007, nude photos of her were posted on the website of the German edition of GQ magazine, and within hours of the photos being posted online, their servers were crashed by curious onlookers, mostly from down under.
On September 28, 2006, Lara appeared on the grand finale of The Footy Show in Melbourne during the player revue. (The Footy Show is a sports program which previews Australian Rules Football games, which differ from soccer and American NFL-style football in that the games more resemble rugby matches but are not actually rugby games.) It was during this program that she struck up a friendship with Australian Rules Football player Brendan Fevola, who was married and had a then 5 month old child. While she denied having anything serious with the football star, voice mail recordings were leaked which showed her having several somewhat intimate conversations with Fevola. One of those leaked conversations actually involved his wife, and soon after the recordings were leaked to the media, Fevola's marriage fell apart. She then struck up a relationship with football player Michael Clarke, who also was in a serious relationship with his high school sweetheart at the time, and once this relationship was leaked out, Clarke's girlfriend dumped him and ordered him out of her house. Her notoriety didn't keep her from appearing in the Australian reality TV show
Torvill and Dean's Dancing on Ice, where she participated several ice dancing competitions but was eliminated in 6th place. She is currently participating in the UK version of that show.
