Today, let;s meet the stunning beauty Adriana Lima, a fashion model from Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. The blue/gray-eyed Brazilian beauty attributea her exotic good looks to her French, Portuguese, Native-American, and Caribbean heritage.

Her climb from obscurity to glam girl occurred after placing second in the Ford Supermodel of the World Contest at the age of 13. Three years later, she headed to New York and signed with Elite Model Management. Once there, her modeling portfolio began to expand exponentially, appearing in Vogue (Italy) in 1997, as well as Vogue (UK), I-D (UK), Marie Claire (Brazil), and Vogue (Italy) in 1998. Adriana also appeared in Vogue (U.S., Germany, UK) and Marie Claire (Italy) in 1999.

As for fashion shows, the Vogue girl has walked down the runway for the following designers: Cynthia Rowley, Vera Wang, Christian Lacroix, Emanuel Ungaro, Betsey Johnson, Girls Rule, Richard Tyler, Giorgio Armani, Fendi, Randolph Duke, Ralph Lauren, and Valentino, just to name a few.

But it's her job as a Victoria's Secret "Angel" that has fueled her fame the most, especially after appearing in network television's Victoria's Secret fashion show in 2001 through 2006. In 2001, she also appeared in the short film, The Follow, with Mickey Rourke.

Adrianna continued to build upon her entry, doing more print work for Maybelline, Bebe, Mossimo, BCBG and gracing the cover and editorials of more high fashion magazines such as Harper's Bazaar, ELLE, Vogue, and GQ. Her April 2006 GQ cover was the highest-selling issue of the year. Her other notable works include the well-famed Pirelli Calendar 2005 and the face of Italy’s big cell phone carrier Telecom Italia Mobile where she became known as the "Catherine Zeta-Jones of Italy."

Lima is fluent in three languages—Portuguese, Spanish and English. In her free time, she loves reading a novel by her favorite author, Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

Since her rise to fame, Lima is often cited by popular media as one of the world's ***iest women. She ranked 7th on FHM 100 ***iest Women of 2007 and was chosen as one of People Magazine's annual 100 Most Beautiful People in the World, in May, 2007. On June 13, 2007, she was awarded as "Hottest Girl on the Planet" at the first Spike TV Guys' Choice Awards but the category was not mentioned in the actual show. She was also voted number 53 on the Maxim Hot 100 in 2007, and she was voted as the Most Desirable Woman in 2005 by visitors of the largest men's lifestyle website, AskMen.com (she placed 4th in 2006 and also 4th in 2007).

Despite being one of the most desired women on the planet, Adrianna has admitted that she was shy around boys when she was younger, not receiving her first kiss until she was 17 years old. In an interview in the April, 2006 issue GQ, she told the magazine that she is a virgin. “*** is for after marriage," she says. "They have to respect that this is my choice. If there's no respect, that means they don't want me." US GQ dubbed her as "The World's Most Voluptuous Virgin".

Despite reports, Adrianna denied ever being engaged to rocker Lenny Kravitz and said that she and Kravitz are just friends. She has also been romantically linked to other celebrities in the past, including New York Yankees superstar, Derek Jeter and Prince Wenzeslaus of Liechtenstein. However, she is currently dating NBA Minnesota Timberwolves player, Serbian Marko Jarić

When she is not busy on the runway, Adrianna does charitable work helping with an orphanage, "Caminhos da Luz" (Ways of Light), located in her hometown. She helps with construction to expand the orphanage, and buys clothes for poor children in Salvador, Bahia.
