Email activity and promotional trends during the past week:
The Retail Email Index fell 4% to 190 during the week ending July 4, and is down 11% from where it was four weeks ago. The Index score indicates that the top 100 online retailers sent 1.9 promotional emails each on average last week.
The Retail Email Participation Rate: Thursday, the day before the 4th of July, was the most popular day to send retail emails last week.
The Retail Email Seasonality Meter: The 4th of July dominated last week’s email marketing, which saw less volume because of the Friday holiday. In the weeks ahead, there will be a small but ever growing number of back to school emails, plus a small number of “Christmas in July” emails.
Other things referenced by retailers: summer, fall, swimwear, outdoors, the beach, travel, gas prices
