RetailEmail.Blogspot monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 of the top online retailers. Here are highlights from our inbox this morning:

Saks Fifth Avenue, 10/24 — JUICY: For You & Your Pooch
Saks is the latest retailer to strut its stuff on the high-fashion dog run. As PetSmart, Petco and Drs. Foster & Smith take pet love to new highs with fashion shows, photo contests and MySpace-like communities, other retailers are catching on that the pet biz is big money. According to an Aug. 6 BusinessWeek story, pet supplies and food is a $41 billion industry. So it makes sense to highlight the pet products that you have, like JC Whitney did in an April 17 email with the subject line “Traveling with Pets.” It may also make sense to launch new pet lines. For instance, I believe that Ralph Lauren expanded their line of pet apparel recently.

My only criticism of this Saks email is that they don't include a picture of a dog. At first glance I thought these were perfume and body products for people.

Gap, 10/24 — Can the Shirt off Your Back Change the World?
This is a great non-promotional subject line. As a question, it begs subscribers to open the email to discover the answer. The question headline is a great tool in the journalism world as well. You just have to be careful not to use it too often.

SUBJECTIVITY SCANNER:
Fingerhut, 10/24 — Get your home ready for the Holiday Season with Fingerhut.com
Montgomery Ward, 10/24 — Shop by Department: 50,000+ Products Online

Bluefly, 10/24 — The Perfect Cold Weather Essentials Up to 40% off
Barnes & Noble, 10/24 — Barnes & Noble Recommends The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox
J. Crew, 10/24 — Fall Sale (blink and you'll miss it)
Walgreens, 10/24 — Try New Photo Clings! Buy 1 or More, Get 1 Free
Frederick’s of Hollywood, 10/24 — Sometimes, sweet and subtle just won't do. Get free shipping on orders of $95.
TigerDirect, 10/24 — Tiger Top 40
Cabela’s, 10/24 — E-mail Only Sale @ Cabelas.com
