AM Inbox: Another retailer promoting their blog via email

RetailEmail.Blogspot monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from our inbox this morning:

Circuit City, 4/10 — Your bonus coupon's inside . . . swing into spring & save!
Circuit City is the latest retailer to use their email program to promote one of their blogs, in this case their CityCenter Blog by Matthew West. The blog appears to have launched at the end of last October, and Circuit City has been featuring content from West in their City Life Newsletter since late last year. But this is the first time that Circuit City has mentioned the blog in their emails. One thought: How about linking to blog content from the City Life Newsletter? (Explore tag: Blog Tie-ins.)

Neiman Marcus, 4/10 — InCircle Double-Point Shopping Event + 1000 Bonus Points
Many retailers promote their credit cards and loyalty programs via their email programs. Here are four things I really like about this one from Neiman Marcus:
1. The event is for credit card/loyalty program members only. That exclusivity encourages non-members to consider joining.
2. It incentivizes non-members to join by offering bonus points when they make their first purchase during the event, and includes a secondary call-to-action for card applications.
3. The event spans their store, online and direct mail channels. It’s great that it allows customers to shop through their preferred channel.
4. They use the word “hautest.” That’s the hottest. (I bet the stodgy AP thinks that’s not a word.)
