RetailEmail.Blogspot monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 of the top online retailers. Here are highlights from our inbox this morning:

Blue Nile, 9/17 — Her New Favorite Jewelry
Many retailers include address book whitelisting instructions at the top of their emails, but Blue Nile is the only major retailer to include instructions for subscribers who use Outlook to add the retailer to their safe sender list.

This may also be the first Blue Nile email to include a partner promotion. I’m wary of including these. I see too many retailers that include random ads or random mentions of partners. I feel much better about it when the connection is very logical and when there’s some kind of event sponsorship involved. Marketers should be particularly wary when subscribers were given the opportunity to opt-in to receive messages from partners and decided not to.



Wal-Mart, 9/17 — Free Shipping on Thousands of Items
Here’s another big mention of Wal-Mart’s new site-to-store program. Wal-Mart is clearly educating subscribers in part in preparation for the upcoming holiday season.
